"Is it any good?"
If you've written a manuscript, you've no doubt asked yourself that very question. Writing can be a daunting, sometimes lonely task. I can help! Jigsaw Wordsmithing offers manuscript reviews, developmental editing, copy editing, and proofreading to turn your hard work into a published book.

Manuscript Review
I'll read your entire manuscript and give you some high-level feedback about what's working and what may need some improvement. I'll provide a letter outlining my professional thoughts about the book and some ideas for you to consider. I'll also tell you what your next step should be on your path to publication.

Developmental Edit
In this stage, you have a pretty good idea of what you want to say, but you're not sure how to organize it. Maybe some pieces are repeated or are missing. You're looking for big-picture ideas about how to put your book together for maximum impact. For developmental edits, I study how the manuscript works as a whole.

Copy Edit
When you're finally happy with the content of your book, a copy editor helps with the writing. Does the writing flow? Are the word choices the best they can be? Do you get bogged down by too many words or confusing punctuation? During the copy editing process, I clean up the writing so the text is as easy to read and interesting as can be.

Proofread
Finally, the best part. Your book is organized and thorough, your words are well-chosen, and your writing is clear. Now you're ready for a proofread. In this step, I check for spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, consistency, even things like extra spaces between words. This is the microscopic view. At the end, you're ready to be published.

We always start with a manuscript review so I can give you the best guidance before you invest more money on the wrong step. You may think you're ready for proofreading, but a copy edit would improve your work immensely. Or maybe you think you need a developmental edit, but you've organized your book well and just need the cleanup that a copy edit would give.
And the good news is, the cost of your manuscript review would be credited to any editing or proofreading package if we decide we're a good fit.
